How the overall score is calculated
A weighted blend of the category scores: performance 20%, camera 20%, battery 18%, display 14%, software support 10%, charging 8%, durability 6%, video 2% and audio 2%. The weights follow what Indian buyers say matters most when choosing a phone (Counterpoint, CMR and Counterpoint–Flipkart surveys, 2025–26). A phone needs performance, camera and battery scores, plus at least 75% of the total weight, before it gets an overall score
Worked example
The Xiaomi 17 is #3 in the current overall list. Its overall score of 86 is the weighted average of its category scores:
| Category | Score | Weight | Contribution |
|---|---|---|---|
| performance phone | 94 | 20% | 19.3 |
| camera phone | 74 | 20% | 15.2 |
| battery phone | 80 | 18% | 14.7 |
| display phone | 87 | 14% | 12.4 |
| phone for long software support | 88 | 10% | 9.0 |
| fast charging phone | 93 | 8% | 7.6 |
| durable phone | 95 | 6% | 5.8 |
| phone for video recording | 84 | 2% | 1.7 |
| phone for music | not ranked | 2% | left out |
A category the phone is not ranked in is left out and the remaining weights are scaled up to 100%.
